Waiting Room

I’m a little surprised how often I find myself in waiting rooms these days. Doctors, dentists, even Zoom has a waiting room when you’re waiting for a meeting.

I used to rail against anything that slowed me down or didn’t go according to plan. My schedule was so tightly packed that any deviation could throw the whole train off the rails.

You might even say I was riding a crazy train…

I would agree with that.

Waiting rooms now don’t cause near the angst they used to. I love that they give me a moment to pause, slow down, adjust things if necessary.

I can find Selah moments in waiting rooms now.

I can find peace in the wait because my schedule isn’t crammed with all the extra. I use the time to visit with my kids or others or even write blog posts like this one.

There is a lot to be said for waiting. I even kinda get why the Lord places us in waiting rooms sometimes. There is purpose to be found in the wait.

Waiting for your healing? Maybe you’re in a waiting room because God wants to grow your faith.

Waiting for your finances to turn around? Perhaps God is giving you an opportunity to bring your stewardship to the level that can handle where he’s taking you.

Waiting for your relationship to improve? Maybe he’s leveling up your communication or listening or partnering skills before he levels up the relationship.

No matter what you’re waiting on, like the song says, if it’s not good yet, God’s not done.

If you find yourself in a waiting room, use the wait well. Learn what the Lord is teaching, whispering, offering. Everything you learn in the wait is probably something you need when that door finally opens and they call your name.

Use the waiting room well, it’s a gift, friends.

Much love,

Meredith
